I've recently made contact with someone whose DNA matches a large number of Munish Schwartzstein's descendants in the US. She can trace her family back to her great-grandmother Rose Fishman (nee Nemorovski) born in Ternivka, 18 September 1858. She sent me a photo of her Rose's gravestone which reads, in part, רייזיא פישמאן בת אברהם. The name Nemorovski clicked with a number of entries in this forum about Nemirovskys connected to Schwartzsteins. I was able to parse out enough from the notes here that Goishey's daughter Khana married a Nemirovsky but I haven't managed to take it any further. Based on Rose Fishman's birth date, she was probably a contemporary of Khana, so I'm not necessarily looking into Khana's descendants. (But that would make sense in terms of the DNA matches.) I see 2 Avrum Nemirovskys in the 1904 Tax List but that's a different problem. Does anyone have any suggestions about next steps? Thanks.

Correction: I no longer believe the gravestone I was shown belongs to the great-grandmother of the Nemorovsky descendant I'm in touch with. The great-grandmother, who did go by the name Rose in the United States, was originally named Rivkah Ruchl. When she emigrated to the US, she used the name Rifke Fischman. The great-granddaughter was given the Hebrew name Rivkah in her memory. Therefore the grave belonging to Reyzel is not the right one and the pointer to אברהם Nemorovsky found there is not relevant. Sorry for any confusion but this is a slowly unfolding process.

I believe I have found a possible descendant of Avrum-Duvid Schwartzstein mentioned in the item above. I originally found Ricardo Rahman about a year ago through his entry in JewishGen's FamilyFinder where he identified himself as a researcher looking for information about the Schwartzstein family from Ternivka. When I contacted him, he shared the following about his family history:by Shifra » 16 Mar 2021, 18:39 Avrum-Duvid Schwartzstein (1859-1919?) was killed during a pogrom in Ternovka. Source: DAKO, file 2497/3/150: "Vseukrevobshchestkom" (Lists of Jews killed during the pogroms of 1918-1921 (for each city separately)).
After discovering this forum in recent weeks, the mention of Avrum-Duvid's murder during pogrom clicked with Dr. Rahman's description of his great-grandfather Abraham's death. When I got back in touch with him with this information, he replied: " Now I´m sure that Abrum David was my great-grandfather, because my father´s name was Abraham David in honour to his grand father killed in a pogrom." Unless someone has different information about Avrum-Duvid's descendants, I believe this is a very strong lead about what happened to one branch of the family. I'm attaching a photo of Abraham with his (second) wife and daughters Sonia (Sarah) and Esther (and an unnamed young man) with his permission. -- Lee David JaffeMy grandmother Sonia (Sara Schwarzstein) was born in Ukrania in 1890. She graduated as MD in Geneva. She had a sister (Esther). Her father (my great-grandfather) was Abraham Schwarzstein, a successful trader in Ternovka (First photo). He was murdered during a progrom. My grandmother married my grandfather (Volco Rahman/Rajman), also an MD after WW1. My father (Abraham) was born in 1919. In 1920 they escaped from Soviet Russia to Romania and finally they settled in Argentina in 1927.
