Hello guys

I can read quite a bit of Russian, but find it a bit difficult to write. So I decided to try my luck in this sub-forum. Since Oshiter is a pretty uncommon surname, I am searching for any trace of it.
But specifically, I'm looking to find a common ancestor with someone I know is my relative.

Story

My great-grandfather Ошитер Шмуль Пейсахович (Oshiter Shmul Pesachovich) was born in Teofipol in sometime in 1897. He was executed in Executed by Troika of the UNKVD at Kamianets-Podilskyi Castle in 1938.

His son, my grandfather Ошетер Петр Самойлович (Osheter Peter Samuilovich), was born in Volochisk in 7 OCT 1931. Around 1941 (at the age of 10), he and his mother caught the last train to Karaganda, Kazakhstan. Some time in the 1950's he settled in Russia. It's very likely his last name was changed when he moved to Kazakhstan (probably by mistaken handwriting - my guess). He died recently, and I decided to find his family. We were absolutely certain that he and his mother Ошитер (Фикшмель) Этя Иосифовна (Etya Fikshmel) were the only ones who escaped. But as it turned out, there were two other Oshiter families living in Volochisk! One who moved to Krivoy Rog and the other moved to Kiev.

I found the common ancestor of the Oshiters from Kiev. But could not find the common ancestor with the one from Krivoy Rog. The descendant told me that his grandfather was born in Volochisk, like mine. My grandfather did not have any siblings. His grandfather's name is Ошитер Игорь Петрович (Oshiter Igor Petrovich). Born 28 AUG 1928 (around the same time as my grandfather).

I found Ошитер Григорий Львович (Oshiter Gregori Lvovich), I had a suspicion that he's my relative's grandfather. But according to the source Gregori was born in 1912, and according to the descendant he was born in 1927 (passport says 1928). I could cross-reference this Gregori in the Yad-Vashem database (same last name, same name, same father's name, was a soldier, but date of birth was 1918).


Additional Info

We found there was Ошитер Лейбиш Менашевич (Oshiter Leibish Menashevich), who temporarily lived (Because it said Жилец) in Odessa around 1897. He was 53 at the time, which places his date of birth around 1844. Around the same time as Пейсах (Shmul's father).

We also found a VERY VERY weird tombstone for a woman called Ошитер Ш Н in Магнитогорск! Which is close to Kazakhstan. Implying she either traveled with Peter and his mother, or she joined them later. Genealogical research suggests the Oshiter tree stayed around Volhynia and never went further.

Another person I found was Оиштер Михаил Львович. Born around 1913.

So this is all the information I found. My question is, how are Ошетер Игорь Петрович (b. 1928 Volochisk) and Ошетер Петр Самойлович (b. 1931 Volochisk) related?

"Жилец" совершенно не обязательно означает временное проживание. Это означает лишь то, что жилье этим человеком арендовалось у хозяина (или у основного арендатора), что этот человек не был собственником жилья.

То ли дети у Пейсаха Ошитера рождались еще с 1890-х и до 1920-х (совсем не исключено), то ли там было два Пейсаха Ошитера.

Wow these documents are new to me. Thank you! My grandfather told me stories about his father's siblings, he had a lot of them. But my grandfather was suffering from dementia towards his later years, and I could not verify almost any of the names he had given. Specifically Moses, Noah & Pinhus. This photograph is direct proof of a Noah. I don't know who Tovia is, but.. it's a new person, and a new avenue to look into.

Потрясающе. Одновременно с Вами (раз это не Вы) на фейсбуке возник некто Вадим Ошетер вот с таким сообщением:
Добрый день. Ищу родственников. На сайте ckorbim.com нашел могилу Ошитер Ш.Н. на кладбище г. Магнитогорска. На фотографии видна дата рождения и дата смерти. Еще ни разу не встречал своего однофамилица, я уверен что эта женщина моя родственница. Как она попала в Магнитогорск, когда, при каких обстоятельствах? Что касается разницы в написании фамилий Ошитер и Ошетер, это известный факт, фамилия Ошетер была записана неверно, так и осталась. Я позвонил в Магнитогорск в еврейскую организацию, мне попытались помочь, но к сожалению ничего узнать не получилось. Могилка ни за кем из родственников не числится, бесхозная. Кто хоронил неизвестно. У меня нет документов подтверждающих родство, а значит мое обращение в любые архивы останется без внимания. Если вы можете посоветовать что мне делать и есть ли шанс найти информацию буду очень благодарен.

Ah yes, this is my uncle I live in Israel, he lives in Russia. We've been in contact today after I found some new info, I guess he decided to restart searches as well!

By the way, I found another Pesach. He was 39 in 1834, so I guess some kids could be his!

I found an address in Volochisk, where my relatives used to live. But it seems as though this street has been renamed. As of 1944 - the address was ул. Розы Люксембург, д. 8 Волочиск (Rosa Luxemburg 8, Volochisk). Is there any resource out there for old maps of Volochisk?
